Crush of the Month ~ Chris Hemsworth

Since it’s March and my birthday month, I was going to have a crush on that was an Aries like me, but I already crushed on Nathan Fillion in January. So, I picked the next best thing to my sweet Nathan ~ Chris Hemsworth!

For those of you who don’t know Chris, let me just say one word: Thor.

Oh, that’s right my dear friends. Chris is that hunk of burning Godliness in the film Thor and will reprise his role for this year’s Avengers and next year’s Thor 2. Let’s just hope he dumps the Natalie Portman character in that one. I love Natalie, but she looked out of place in the movie, or was that just me?

Our darling Chris is a baby compared to our other crushes thus far. He was born in Melbourne, Australia on August 11, 1983. His family lived in Melbourne and the Outback, bouncing around from one to the other, but mostly they lived in Melbourne. It wasn’t until 2004 that he finally found his career path that would lead him to the States.

Before his big breakthrough on Thor Chris acted in a long running soap opera in Australia, Home and Away from 2004 to 2007. Once he got to America, he was off and running, scoring his first movie role in CA$H just six weeks after he arrived. After that, he played George Kirk, James T. Kirk’s dad in the 2009 movie, Star Trek. Although his screen time was only a few doomed minutes, he rocked that role and totally made the whole movie, don’t you think?

Chris almost didn’t get the role of Thor, in fact his brother Liam (yes, the dude that’s dating Miley Cyrus) was in the final four, but director Kenneth Branagh (love him!) decided to look over earlier candidates and picked Chris. Yay Kenneth!

That is one fine looking God if you ask me.

Sorry Ladies, Chris is married and is expecting his first child this year. I wonder if anyone will give the little darling a hammer rattle. I totally would. 😉

Here’s a fun little fact: IMBD says that the 6’3″ Chris’ ‘trade mark’ is his ‘deep resonant voice’. Yeah, I’m thinking those people over at IMDB have never seen his bluer than blue eyes or his abs. Check out the pic and you decide. Voice or abs? Go ahead, we’ll wait.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. Totally the abs. Don’t get me wrong, his voice is amazing.

So, what’s our darling Chris up to next?

This May he reprises his role of Thor in The Avengers, starring alongside Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, and a whole bunch of other amazing actors. You know I’ll be there opening day.

After that he stars as the Huntsman in Snow White and the Huntsman. I’m going to have to get over my aversion to Kristen Stewart for that one. There aren’t a lot of actors I’d go to such extremes for, but darling Chris, oh heck yes! If you can’t get enough of Thor, next year he’ll be back for Thor 2. Whoohoo!

He’s also got a few other, non Godlike or fairytale movies coming out for those of you who like action. He’ll be starring in Rush, a story about Formula One racers, which sounds really good and in 2013 he’ll be in Red Dawn. I can’t tell if it’s a remake or not. It looks kind of Warriors-ish, so I’m withholding judgment for now.

So, what do you think? Is Chris totally crush-worthy? Are you a fan of Thor? Are you like me and totally psyched to see the Avengers? I missed Chris in 2010 at Comic-Con, so I can only hope he’ll be there this year. Who knows, maybe I’ll see him AND Nathan Fillion. We can all hang out at the bar and swap war stories!

Here’s a little teaser trailer to get you ready for May…

  1. Ok, so since I’m apparently the only person left on the planet who hasn’t seen Thor, I will hereby make that my personal quest for the Month of March. I’m way behind in my movie viewing, but that was already on my list, so I’ll move it up. Thanks for the motivation to study the plotting…er, the character development…er, the story arc…er…oh what the hell. I’ll go for the abs! Thanks for a pre coffee pick me up, Tameri!

  2. That makes my heart smile! I really hope you like the movie. By the way, I looooove Loki and am looking forward to what chaos he can create in Avengers. He’s so good at being bad! But Thor is way too good at being good so he has to win.

    • Me, too Ali! The way Captain America ended was fantastic and completely got me excited for the series (not that I wasn’t already). If they are at Comic-Con this year, I might have to camp out to get into the hall.

  3. Tameri, I love Loki too! He’s just played soooo well. They’re both great.

And you better believe I’ll be at Avengers! We hit the midnight premieres of all of the Marvel movies. And… if things turn out as planned… *shifty eyes* … I’ll be dressed as Black Widow (and yes, the boys have convinced me to even dye my hair for the role). Hubby will be Tony Stark again, another friend is pulling together his Loki look. Now just gotta wait for our Thor, Hulk, and Captain America to get their stuff together. (Don’t know if we’re having a Hawkeye or Nick Fury yet.) Don’t worry. If this happens there will TOTALLY be pictures. =)

    • I was thinking you’d be dressed up. That is so cool that you do that. Even with my outrageous style and gregarious nature, I can’t dress up. I don’t know why, but I just don’t. I always WANT to, but then it doesn’t happen. Too shy, I guess.

I’m super excited to see the pictures! You’re going to make one sexy, badass Black Widow.

    • Really? That’s so cute! I’m trying to see if I can get the soap from Netflix or on youtube or anything. It would be fun to watch Chris as a young ‘un. The Brits and Aussies have the best soap operas! When I lived in England in 1990 I got sucked into Eastenders and the Aussie soap with Kylie Minogue – was it Neighbors? Loved them!

      • I think my sister watches it on youtube. We’re behind Australia so she watches it online instead. I haven’t seen Thor yet, must rent it out some evening. Yes, that was Neighbours, ha ha. And Eastenders is the most depressing soap on television. Plus side, whenever I watch it, I instantly feel better about my own life 🙂

  4. Plans, I had such good plans. One of them was to go see Thor, because I actually know a young man named Thor. We were all going to make it a big event. Then we didn’t. Getting me to the movies these days is harder and harder and I don’t even know why. And now that I watched the trailer, it dawns on me that I haven’t seen Ironman, either, and we’ve got that at home on DVD. What is up with me? I got some catching up to do.

But Chris is cute-cute-cute. Young enough to be my son, but cute.

    • What? You haven’t seen the movies yet? That’s because you’re always watching those oldies. Thor and Iron Man are just fun action flicks that don’t make you think too much. Now that we have the bigass TV and sound system, it’s hard to get me to the theater, too. I’ll make an exception for big movies like Avengers where seeing on the ginormous screen makes you feel like you’re a part of the action. Let me know if you need a viewing partner to watch the movies!

  5. Oh yeah! I got chills! You are gonna have to fight with Monkey over Thor – I mean Chris though. You know that, right? I will have to see that movie more than once. Once without kids so that I don’t miss anything. But it has been clear to me that Monkey must see it and Gamer wants to see it too. So there will be AT LEAST one other viewing. Maybe two if Monkey messes up Gamers showing, which happens. Love the line, “We’re not a team. We’re a time bomb.”

This is how we’ll celebrate my birthday. Parties coming to me. Per Ironman. 😉

    • I know, I think we discussed this once before that we can’t ever tell Monkey I’m crushing on Thor/Chris because he’s her boyfriend. I’ll keep it hush-hush so we don’t hurt her feelings. I’m pretty sure in a fight she could totally take me.

We should plan an ‘adult’ viewing and meet at Downtown Disney for dinner, drinks, and hunky hunks! Because, I’m going to want to see it more than once as well. Maybe six times before I buy the Blu-Ray. 😉

      • That would be so much fun! And I agree, she probably would take you. She takes me out all the time. 😦 She fights nasty! But she got all dressed up last night and told me she had a date with a boy from school. So it has started and Thor had better watch out.

  7. Great pick! Thor was a good movie but Chris made it really special. He’s so yummy that I had to get the DVD 😉 I can’t wait for the Avengers and I’ll even watch the Huntsman because Chris is in it. And you’re absolutely right about Loki making a great villain.

    • I know exactly how you feel, Reetta! Thor was okay, but Chris made it awesome. It wasn’t just because he’s super beautiful either. Although that did help.

We used to have a black cat named Loki and she was chaos covered in fur.

  8. Well … Avengers looks fantastic. Will be seeing that one for sure.

Thor – loved that movie. And yes, Natalie was totally out of place.

    ScarJo – definitely!

    🙂

    • His smile is to die for. You know, the abs only go so far and then you need other things to look at ~ like his eyes, those lips, that smile, that hair. Yeah, he’s the whole package. And he has a great sense of humor as well. That’s really important.

  9. Beautiful eyes and abs…yes! I haven’t seen Thor, but I don’t get to the movies much. i will look for The Avengers though! Thanks Tameri. He’s cute but way too young for a crush for me…he’s younger than my daughter!

    • If you want all Chris, go for Thor. The Avengers is going to be fun, but there is a whole ginormous cast fighting for screen time and I have a feeling Robert Downey Jr. is going to get most of it. Still, it’ll be an awesome movie.

Younger than your daughter? Yeah, he’s a baby, but still crush worthy if only from afar. 😉

  10. OMG HOTTY!!! Love Chris and loved Thor. I can’t wait for Thor2!!!
BTW, March is MY bday month as well!! SQUEEEE!!! I assume you are later in the month???
    Happy Bday month – remember, it’s not just a day, it’s a SEASON! 🙂

    • You’re a March girl, too? I should’ve known!

It is totally a SEASON! It starts on March 1st and lasts until March 31st. I work it the whole month. My poor hubs starts panicking about this time because I haven’t given him any ideas of what I want. Mwuahahahaha! Or, I’ve given him too many ideas. 😉

      I’m on the 29th, when’s yours?

      Happy Birthday Month my sista!
