May Movie Madness!

It’s finally here! The month of May officially starts tomorrow, but we’re celebrating today in anticipation for the movie goodness May promises us.

First off we have The Avengers. You all know I’m a HUGE Chris Hemsworth fan (if you missed my Crush of the Month post featuring him, click here) and although the ads hype up Robert Downey Jr. a little too much for my liking, I am still crazy excited for this movie to come out! We have one of those newfangled dinner and movie theater places here, so that’s where we’re going to catch this flick opening weekend.

The next weekend (May 11th), we have Dark Shadows to keep us entertained. Johnny Depp. Need I say more?

May 18th is a little mixed. I’m not sure if I want to see Battleship or What to Expect When You’re Expecting more. Maybe neither and I’ll just go see The Avengers again!

But then we have Memorial Weekend with two outstanding choices! Moonrise Kingdom with Bruce Willis looks like just the quirky sweet type of movie I fall in love with. Plus, it’s Bruce Willis. Need I say more?

Of course, Bruce is competing with Will Smith for my attention that weekend. That’s right, Men In Black 3 is finally coming out! Will Smith had my heart way back in the 80’s when he was just a Fresh Prince.

I know technically this release is June, but it’s close enough to May I’m including it here. You KNOW I’m crazy excited for Snow White and the Huntsman!!! Chris Hemsworth. Again. *sigh*

What movies are you looking forward to this month? This summer? There are so many great ones to choose from!

I’ll leave you with a few teasers…

Snow White and the Huntsman

Moonrise Kingdom

And of course… The Avengers

  1. Oh man, I am DYING for all of these movies, but especially May. I have realized that I will be spending every weekend at the movies during the month of June, between Snow White, Prometheus, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Brave, and Magic Mike. And then there’s The Dark Knight Rises in July! So. Much. Awesome.

    • I know! I need to take out a small loan just to pay for all the great movies coming up. Some I can wait for DVD, but others, like Avengers, I need to see in the theater. My husband is crazy excited for Prometheus. He keeps saying I probably won’t like it, so if you happen to be in So Cal when it comes out, you’ve got a date! 😉

    • The movie people are killing me here. Months of blah and then BAM! Tons of great movies all at once. Did you see my reply to Lena about Prometheus? The offer stands for you as well. My husband would just die if he had two gorgeous girls accompanying him to the movie!!

  2. I’m always excited for a lot of movies, and then they come out and I’m too busy or tired or whatever to see them, so I think, well, okay, I’ll Netflix ’em and watch them on my Fire. Then instead I watch Poirot, or something old and b&w. Waaa – I’m a movie loser!

    • I know, me too Gayle (except the watching old movies thing. I don’t do that.) We have such a great TV that it’s hard to pay all that $$ to see it on the big screen, but some movies must be seen in a big theater with all the great sound. If there are any you want to see, let me know. We can meet at Disneyland, cruise the park, then see the movie at the AMC there!

  3. OMG…Men in Black 3!!! Wahoo!!! Can not wait. I’m so jealous you have a dinner theatre. I’m looking forward to seeing the remake of the Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp, supposed to be on May 13th. This was my favorite show growing up, so can’t wait to see what they did with it.

    • I am so excited about the dinner theater. Apparently you sit in these super comfy barcoloungers (I have no idea how to spell that) and waiters bring your food. Plus, you can drink alcohol. Whoohoo! I’ll let you know what we think of the whole experience. Johnny Depp as the Long Ranger? I would be very interested in that (as long as it isn’t just Rango all over again. That movie was a stinker.)

  4. I know I’m gonna want to see Avengers more than once! And I, too, am crazy excited for Snow White and the Huntsman! Woo hoo! I hadn’t heard of Moonrise Kingdom. That just looks too sweet! Dark Shadows looks too corny for me. They went a little overboard in that area. And are you sure about the May 2013 date for MIB 3? I just saw an ad on the tv today for it. Thought it boosted a date sooner than that. Hmm.

    • Hmmm, I just checked Fandango and it has May 25th listed as MIB3’s release date.

So, if you want a date to see Snow White, let me know. My hubs has said ‘meh’ and I don’t think the Kid wants to see it.

And I’ll totally be seeing Avengers more than once! Do I need to see Iron Man 2 before I see Avengers? For some reason I missed that one. We have it on DVD, maybe I’ll watch it tomorrow.

      • There are a few things in Iron Man 2 that allude to the Avengers movie. I’d watch it. I saw the ad for MIB 3 today and it said May 25th. Televised so I’d go with that.

Oh, it would be SO fun to plan something for Snow White. I haven’t talked to the hubby about it, but I doubt he cares much.

  5. A guy I went to school with is on the visual effects crew for Snow White and the Huntsmen – he won an award for his work on Hugo – so I am really looking forward to seeing that one.

Avengers, of course, I must see since it is superheroes and has RDJ in it (he is a long time crush of mine).

Have you seen the previews for Brave? I REALLLY want to see it.

    • What?!? How cool is that? I’d so love to be in on a movie that way. I loved Hugo, so yay for him! I’m super excited about ‘Brave’. I’ve been seeing the previews for awhile (I’m on Disney’s mailing list, so they send it out to me). You know I love me a fiery heroine and the setting in Scotland just makes it all the better. Thanks for sharing the trailer!
