It’s that time of year when everyone is gearing up for a spooktacular Halloween. Even my favorite place in the world gets in on the action, so you know I had to hop on up there to see what kind of Halloween fun Disneyland had for us.
Because she’s awesome (and has a pass), my gal pal Gayle met me at The Happiest Place on Earth so we could see all the groovy decorations. And of course, we had to check out some of the treats on offer as well!
We started our adventure at, well, California Adventure. Their decorations were at a minimum, but we did find this cute little guy at the coffee cart near the pier.
Gayle insisted we try it out right away. Who was I to argue?
After our quick snack of Bat Mickey cookies, we headed over to Disneyland to see what they had to offer in the way of decorations.
Judging by the entrance, we’d hit the motherlode!
Minnie is just too darn cute as a pumpkin.
As we walked down Main Street, there were more and more and more pumpkins until I thought we’d stumbled into an alternate reality of Pumpkinland.
You had your Mickey Pumpkin (suitable for posing in front of), pumpkins in shop windows, pumpkins on balconies, it was pumpkin heaven.
The only bummer was the castle. It wasn’t decorated at all. I was hoping they’d make it really spooky with cobwebs or something. Or at the very least, a pumpkin or two! While this isn’t a decoration on the outside, if you venture to Space Mountain, they do turn it into Ghost Galaxy for Halloween. It’s spooky cool!
Another ride they give a makeover to is the Haunted Mansion. Every Halloween, Jack Skellington and his friends take over the mansion and give it a Nightmare Before Christmas haunting! I love the changes they make to the ride. You get to see Jack, Sally, Oogie, and Zero all hanging out in the mansion.
Enough of the decorations, you say? You want to know more about the treats? Well let me tell you… Disneyland has some of the yummiest treats you’ve ever tasted. Are you a caramel apple fan? Check out these tasty tempters. Disney makes their apples on site using fresh granny smith apples, then they dip them in white chocolate, caramel, and give a generous sprinkling of pixie dust. I mean, sugar. Same thing, right?
They come in a variety of characters from Jack Skellington, to the Cheshire Cat. I bought a Minnie Witch and a pumpkin caramel apple. My son ate both of them, but I got to sample them and they are good.

If caramel apples aren’t your thing, there is plenty of other options. Candy corn flavored cotton candy, jellies, suckers, cupcakes, rice crispy treats, too many to list here!

I hope you enjoyed this flavor packed tour of Disneyland at Halloween time! I wanted to head back to get pictures at night, but the timing didn’t work out. Every year Disneyland hosts a Mickey’s Halloween Party where guests are treated to special park hours, refreshments, and candy treats. For more information, check out the Disney site here.
Just because you’ve been so good, I’ll share more pictures of the treats we picked up at the park. I had to snap pics of them quick because my son gobbled them all up within a few days.

As for Halloween, we still carve pumpkins, in fact, the boys (and sometimes their girlfriends) have a carving contest. Haven’t dressed up in like a gazillion years, but I still have to watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”. Wouldn’t be Halloween without it.
You should go again, Tari! I’ll meet you there and we can have a fun, girlie day at Disneyland.
That sounds fun having your boys and their girlfriends coming over for a pumpkin carving party! I bet they make some outstanding designs.
I am shocked that you don’t dress up! I would’ve pegged you as the total costume queen even for handing out candy. I hope you have a terrific time watching Charlie this year! Happy Halloween.

Yes, another trip is definitely in order. I remembered the pics on my phone this morning and added some of the cupcakes and crispy treats ~ now I’m totally craving one of those cupcakes! As you said… another trip is in order. 😉

Yeah, you gotta love this post! I’m happy to say that yes, all the treats are as good as they look. I was pretty happy when my son ate them all, though. Means less on my butt!
Odd as it may sound, I crave sloppy joes around Halloween. They were a tradition with my family growing up, and it stuck–to my taste buds, anyway. I may don my Cat Woman outfit. But in my heart, it’s pre-Christmastime. 😉

They already have Christmas stuff up at Costco… if you’re feeling antsy for the holiday you could go there and just roam the aisle. It’ll make you feel all warm and sparkly inside. Yum! Especially the Mickey and Minnie apples. I would eat their faces off with no remorse. 🙂 The Mickey faced pumpkins were pretty badass, too. Wish I’d have thought to take pics of the blood bag Jell-O shots served by zombie nurses when I was at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights last weekend…
Those apples are really good. I want to know where they get their apples from since they’re all delicious and about the same size. Must be Disney magic.

What did you dress up as?
I didn’t…we went out to dinner before we hit the 7 haunted houses…LOL! Lots of creepy scariness without me helping to spook the people around me. It was a blast, though. A couple houses scared some people so badly that they were grabbing on to random strangers, LOL! I know this because I had two teenage girls I didn’t know screaming and plastered to my back. Ha!
Next year I’ll take pictures. Promise.

You’ve made me so hungry!!! I like the Mickey bat. It would go quite nice with a mug of tea. I’ve never been to Disneyland or Disneyworld in Europe but I really really want to go. Lucky you, living in California.
I’ll have plenty of sweet ready for the trick-or-treaters and a stack of Horror DVDs ready, but also Hocus Pocus.

Oooh, those cookies with tea, that would be perfect. Tell you what, the next time I go (in the next few weeks), I’ll get you a cookie and send it to you! I’d rather hop on over there and got to Disneyland Paris, but that’s not really in the budget. We can enjoy a cookie with tea together virtually and dream about a trip to Paris.

I won’t dress up but I will put up Halloween decorations: lots of cobwebs, lanterns, my wreath on the door filled with skeletons and decaying rose petals – I’ll take a pic of it.

I hope you do get a chance to go to Paris Disney. I was able to go for one morning and it was a disaster, so I need a re-do! It was like being in a time warp ~ everything looked familiar, but strange at the same time. I’m so used to my little park that the others seem weird to me.
That was fun! I never really thought about Disneyland dressing things up for Hallowe’en. What fun that you just pop in and out of there like most of us go to the grocery store. Very cool!

They just started this in the past decade or so. It used to be at California Adventure, but they’ve moved it to Disneyland now, not sure why. Probably because of the Haunted Mansion. I know Walt Disney World does a huge thing, too. It’s a lot of fun ~ especially since the parties at night the adults get into the fun and dress up.
Aw, those Adorables are so lucky! You are such a great grandma. Have fun with the sweet babes. I can mail you an apple if you want… not sure how it would hold up in the post, but we could try!

Yay! I’m so glad you’re a Disney fan, Sheri. I will be taking you back to Disneyland for Christmas ~ not the Magic Kingdom, that’s way over in Florida. Some day I’ll go there for the holidays and see all of their crazy decorations. It’s insane compared to our little park out West.

Never been to Disney but I love Disney World at the holidays. So much fun! Great treats! Isn’t it nice to have a son who’ll eat most of them and you can just sample with no guilt?! I love that you can just go there for the day, whenever! Love those caramel apples!

Me too! The parks go nuts for Christmas, but each year they get a little more into Halloween. I’m waiting for the day they spookifiy the castle. That’s going to be epic.
They are sooo freaking adorable. But I don’t want to eat any of them. Monkey would, though. She would be all over that action. I’m thinking a spiked coffee. I don’t think we are doing much for Halloween this year. We’ve dressed up in year’s past and had goulish fun but so far this year, the plans are pretty low key. Maybe I’ll dress in all black and have fun scaring the kiddies coming for treats…LOL!!
What?? I would imagine yours is the coolest house on the block and you’d be all dressed up as Vampira (with sparkles!), or something else really cool and glittery. I do like the idea of you dressing in black to scare the kids.
Someday, you’ll have to come to Cali and we’ll go to Disneyland together. Way too much fun.
