My Life As a Mortal

Here’s a little bit about me…

I grew up in Southern California and live in a quaint little village on the coast, just north of San Diego. I’ve always been fascinated with words and started writing stories as a kid. Later, I worked on the school newspaper and dreamed of becoming a photojournalist. Funny thing about dreams, they need a little nudge to get started.

Even though I never saw that dream materialize, I kept writing, mostly terrible poems that I would hide from everyone. Now I write daily and am currently working on the first novel in my fantasy series. I also write fiction and am thinking of delving into historical fiction, but fantasy is my first love.

To say I wish I was born a faerie princess with magical powers is an understatement. The fact that I’m a mortal is my everlasting curse. Perhaps that’s why I write fantasy. Every day I get to delve into worlds of mystery and beauty. I can become the sorceress of my dreams or the villain of my nightmares.ย Being able to create worlds and creatures from my imagination is a marvelous thing.

As a mother, I am blessed to be able to stay at home with my children – although that term must be used loosely now. My daughter is a beautiful and intelligent twenty-year old and my son is now a teenager. When people say they grow up so fast, they aren’t kidding!

I live a charmed life. I know this and am grateful for every single day. My husband is my best friend and soul mate. He works hard so that I can be a good mother to my children and live out my fantasies on paper.

Life is messy at times, but with my children and husband to support me I know I can handle anything.

  1. Haha — me too on loving the fantasy! When I saw the first Lord of the Rings movie, I thought, if I could open a doorway into that world right now, I’d walk through it.

That was a while ago, though. Reality is pretty good these days.

    • Reality is pretty good, but I still love to get lost in other worlds and magic. I know how you feel about LOTR – every time I watch those movies, I’m looking around at the scenery and all the costumes just imagining myself there.

Thanks for coming by and commenting, Susan!

  2. Hi Tameri, I’m so glad to have discovered your blog! I popped over from seeing your lovely comments on my guest post at Naomi’s blog. What a beautiful header picture… and ‘A cup of tea and Sorcery’ – so enticing!

    • Thanks for visiting Deb, happy to have you here! I had fun with the header and my husband helped me come up with the tag line. It’s so me!

  3. Hi Tameri, Just saw your comment on Kristen Lamb’s blog, so I thought I’d mosey over here and give yours a look. San Diego connection with you, but not the quaint little village on the coast part. That’s my home town, though we live in the Philippines now.

    • Hey! Great to have a fellow San Diegan visiting the blog. If you’re ever back in the area, definitely give a shout out.

The Phillippines? I’ve heard it’s gorgeous over there, so enjoy your stay!

I hope you stop by again, thanks for the comment.
